Project Description

We are so excited when we get to craft an identity for a new small business from the beginning, and are trusted to continue to expand the brand through various media. It’s a true privilege to help an artist to successfully launch a new business that really is her passion. We started with creating the logo for this fiber artist’s new business venture – a line of high-end knitting yarns and other fibers. The logo was carefully crafted to be eye-catching, beautiful, and meaningful, and aimed to reflect the business visually, as well. Our favorite kind of logo ties all these items together; this logo resembles the shape of a skein of wool, and also contains the initials “CC” (for Curious Creek) cleverly imbedded in the illustration shape. The typography helps to communicate the more whimsical quality of the name. The owner was simply thrilled with how it turned out.

We then developed a business card, which of course features the logo and also a unique paper which, although hard to represent on-screen, has subtle metallic sparkles imbedded that only show in the right light. The front/back of the card are both only printed with one ink, the signature dark indigo color, keeping the print cost very affordable. But the paper selection gives the card some extra wow factor and a heavyweight, quality feel.

Continuing the branding, other projects included a letterhead and envelope; a product tag; a product sample binder cover and specially designed die-cut product binder card where the yarn samples were attached; several postcards and advertisements, including some custom digital illustration; and a full website. The website was developed in a unique way to feature all fiber types and colorways of the line, and a user-friendly way to shop either by colorway or fiber type. This entailed photographing, editing, and posting photos of over 200 different permutations of yarn skeins! The site also includes an animated intro and several fanciful digital illustrations.
